Black Panther Party, was an “All Power To All The People!” organization, whether you're black, white, blue, green, yellow, or polka dot. We believed in black unity, but only as a catalyst to help humanize the world. The Black Panther Party worked for self-determination and social justice for all people The Black Panther Party sought to end racism AND sexism. The Black Panthers were brothers and sisters. They fought alongside each other and it was an egalitarian subculture; much more so than mainstream America in the 60′s, when women were meant to be homemakers and live a mindless, obligatory existence for the sole purpose of serving others (husband and children). In the subculture of the Black Panther Party and Black Liberation Movement during the era of the Civil Rights, the women had stature, presence and perhaps, almost as much power as the men did in this movement (especially Angela Davis). These Black Panther women’s voices were heard, encouraged, and they said whatever the hell they wanted. In these two cultures (white and black) which were world’s apart but co-existed in America during the Civil Rights Revolution, this positive aspect of the movement was often overlooked. Women in the Black Panther Party were fighting for women’s rights, and they were fighting with their voices, their passion to end inequity and to establish basic human rights. These women were an integral, critical influence in the feminist/women’s rights movement. These black women were at the dangerous activist forefront of establishing more freedom and rights for women of every color. And make no mistake, there were also white and brown women right by their sides. #blackpantherparty #bobbyseale #blackpanthers #womenblackpanthers #kathleencleaver #angeladavis All Power To All The People! While Democratic Board Chairman Mark Gaston Pearce and Republican board nominees Harry Johnson and Phillip Miscimarra sailed through, two others didn't. And the almost party-line votes on Democratic nominees Sharon Block and Richard Griffin, the former Operating Engineers general counsel, presage another partisan war on the Senate floor over the labor board and its future. Lately they’ve been treated to another sight: a three-story pile of petroleum coke covering an entire city block on the other side of the Detroit River. Detroit’s ever-growing black mountain is the unloved, unwanted and long overlooked byproduct of Canada’s oil sands boom. And no one knows quite what to do about it, except Koch Carbon, which owns it. When they really started to focus on us was right after Nixon got elected. He gets elected in November 1968. One of the first people Nixon meets with – before the inauguration, before January 1969 – is J. Edgar Hoover. Now, right in the middle of December 1968, Hoover is on television saying that the Black Panthers are a threat to the internal security of America. Four months later, he is back on television saying that the Free Breakfast for Children Program is a threat to the internal security of America. In our film,“SEIZE THE TIME: The Eighth Defendant,” (a feature film focusing on life experiences as the founding Chairman and national organizer of the Black Panther Party and in turn the true history of the Black Panther Party.) we are showing real documents subpoenaed by a Senate committee that our research assistants have gotten a hold of that show Hoover sent out one communiqué as a directive to 43 district offices of the FBI. In this thing, he is directing them to do – in any creative way you can – to disrupt, discredit, and destroy the breakfast program. You must further try to make sure that moderate blacks and liberal whites do not support this program. In a Gallup poll at the time, something like 90% of the black community approved of the Panthers and the breakfast program. Those programs caused a lot of people to look at us differently from “guns.” Hoover didn’t like that. And they were on us. #blackpantherparty #bobbyseale #cointelpro #blackpanthers == All Power To All The People! The buyer is making no particular attempt to learn from Monda's example—he or she (masked by a corporation) has just listed the house for million. The annual taxes add another ,000 to that. At our last encounter (after several photo shoots), billionaire Leonard Stern had purchased this property for .25 million. Stern (who bought the apartment from high-profile recruiter Joseph B. Goldsmith at a bit of a discount from the .5 million asking price) is the man who built the Tribeca Grand and Soho Grand hotels and donated his name to NYU's Stern School of Business. At the time of his buy, we wondered whether he'd picked up the penthouse as just another trophy. Maybe, maybe not—but after two and a half years, the romance is winding down.
