Medicare paid for her lung Cancer surgery as well. I've heard every argument for why it wasn't hypocritical for her to get the benefits since she paid into the SS pot and I've called bullshit on every one of them. If she weren't a hypocrite she would have either: A. Moved somewhere that didn't “force” her to pay into a system she found immoral. She had the means to do so and no one made her stay here. She and her sociopathic groupies should have “Gone Galt” on an island–a shark infested one preferably. Or… B. Taken the money BEFORE it became an actual desperate need. If she'd filed for it the SECOND she was eligible and explained why to all her drooling fans then I wouldn't think of her as a hypocrite–just a nasty bitch. She spoke nary a word about it because she KNEW it was a fucked up thing to do and, of course, didn't want to be both hypocritical and wipe out the validity of her entire life's work in one fell swoop. Or… C. Refused the benefits as a matter of principle. She did say this, after all: “The spread of evil is the symptom of a vacuum. Whenever evil wins, it is only by default: by the moral failure of those who evade the fact that there can be no compromise on basic principles.” Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal' 1966 P.S. AND she collected in her married name and never made her actions public. If she was just giving Uncle Sam the ol' “screw you” for taking her money, wouldn't she have made it common knowledge she was doing so? She was a rightly embarrasses old hypocrite.
